Spotlight – “Reid Vann”
I’m Bob, and though it might sound a bit weird, I really do love my car. This is my 2nd Cayman S; the previous being a 981S, which is the designation given by Porsche to its third-generation Porsche Boxster / Cayman models. The brilliance of the PDK is what first drew me to the Porsche and my obsession with driving at the track is what helps keep my passion for the brand. Like some traditionalists, I would prefer to row through the gears, however, a knee injury sustained in my early years prevents me from operating manual clutch. Fortunately however, Porsche’s PDK offered me a functional, quick and quite surprisingly efficient alternative.
About me
Porsche is definitely one of my hobbies – which makes me thankful that my wife has a great job! I’m also owner of HouseFabric.com, an online upholstery and drapery fabric business. In addition, I’m an amateur cook, mechanic, drummer, potter, web developer, decorator and, in keeping with my passion; a Porsche Club America (PCA) driving instructor. I have a wonderful wife and two sons aged 19 and 22 years.

Reid recounts, bemusedly, that despite being the driving force behind the purchase, Liz rarely drives this Blue Wonder, seen more often piloting the 1973 Carrera RS Touring. Reid seems to think that she prefers the precise shifting of the 915 gearbox in the RS, as compared to the longer and somewhat erratic throws that characterize the 644. Still, Liz and Reid, having done a concours-level restoration of a completely spectacular interior as well as exterior, have taken part in historic rallies in this delightful damsel.
